Day 5

Today was spent working on the consulting job for the Punta Cana International Airport. There, we distributed surveys to guests waiting for their flight to depart. The surveys have been translated into 5 languages (English, Russian, German, Spanish, French, and German) and ask the guest various questions about their experience both with the airport and Punta Cana in general.

Students approached the guests explaining the reason for the survey and its benefits. Many patrons graciously took the survey while waiting for their departing flight. To provide an extra incentive to collect more completed surveys, Dr. Harrill plans to graciously award the student with the most collected surveys with a gift from the airport.

After collecting the surveys, students were required to participate in data entry. By using the computers in the resort’s foundation classroom, we were able to format excel spreadsheets and enter the data. Though tedious, data entry provides team building experience when working with a partner who calls out the data.

Overall, it has been a good first day collecting surveys. Though the final count is not in yet, Dr. Harrill is optimistic that this year may be able to collect more surveys than in years past.
