After a late night out in Bavaro, Dr. Harrill treated us to a relaxing day in the Isla Soana outside of the beach town, Baie Bay. After a 2 hour ride to the town, we suited in swimwear and road a speedboat to a shallow area of the ocean where the water was bright aqua blue from a distance and see through when standing. After splashing around and taking some photos with a starfish, we boarded the speed boat again and arrived on the island Soana where we were able to relax on the island with other travelers.
The site had been set up to accommodate tourists of all kind. An open bar was placed centrally on the island and there were volleyball courts and dancing pavilions. Many of us relaxed in the beach while some made friends with different tourists also visiting the island.
After lunch provided on the island, we then boarded a catamaran boat and enjoined the slow ride back to shore. Many of us had never ridden this boat before and were surprised that it was so spacious. The cool breeze and bright sunshine felt amazing on our skin and the scenic view of bright aqua water against powder, white beaches provided an experience like no other.
Sunburned, tired, but happy, we rode the two hour trip back to the hotel and quickly consumed our dinner. For many of us, this is an early night as we start distributing surveys tomorrow morning.
