Today began fairly early when the group met in the lobby of the hotel to depart for a morning in Bavaro, a local town outside of Punta Cana. Once arriving in the town, we spent the morning touring the luxury resort, La Pacifica. Our guide showed us the numerous restaurants, bars, and lounges on the resort as well as a child care center and spa. We were offered a Dominican cocktail in the lobby and a were given complementary stone foot wash in the spa. For many of us, this was the only time that we would be able to see inside such a luxurious resort.
After the morning tour, many of us relaxed at the resort for an hour before our lunch of rice and beans. In the afternoon, we witnessed a calm rainstorm that we later learned is occasional in the Dominican Republic before meeting for the survey distribution and data collection orientation. There, we met in the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation classroom on site and discussed the schedule for survey distribution later on in the week. It sounds like we will have a great experience speaking with other travelers.
This evening we plan on having dinner again and the resort’s pizzeria and exploring the nightlife in Bavaro. Adios!
